Possible complication and risk - breast augmentation
You need to be aware of the possible risks concerned with breast surgery. We would also like to add that none of our Cosmedic Jetaways patients reported any of the complications described below, but it's important to be aware of these possibile risks before any plastic surgery or breast augmentation surgery procedure.
Risk of Numbness
Reduced sensation in the nipple can is usually common after breast surgery or breast augmentation surgery procedures but in most cases sensitivity will return after a few days. However it has been reported that on rare occassions sensitivity did not return after breast augmentation or breast implant cosmetic surgery.
Risks during pregnancy
May alter breast size in an unpredictable way and could affect the long term results of your plastic surgery or breast augmentation surgery . Whilst there is no evidence that breast implants will affect pregnancy or your ability to breast feed and many women successfully breast feed with no reported problems. Please keep in consideration that breast implant surgery carries the risk that may interfere with breast feeding.
Risk of capsular contracture (encapsulation)
Caused when a foreign body is buried inside the human body, the body will form a shell around it with a tissue generally called a capsule. If this capsule around the breast implant remains thin and pliable then the breasts will look and feel realistic and good.
If the capsule is a little bit thicker then the breast contour or feeling will still be acceptable but a bit firmer.
But if the capsule is very thick and constricted, then breasts may deform and cause pain. There are many factors that can lead to capsular contracture after breast augmentation or breast implant surgery.
It is hard to predict that it will happen as every individual reacts differently to a foreign body. To correct a Capsulectomy a repeat operation and breast implant replacement can be performed or just a removal of the breast implants. But it needs to be considered that Capsular contracture if breast implants are replaced does not guarantee it will not happen again.
Risks of Rupture
No breast implant will last forever. breast Implants can break or rupture, causing deflation. Many ruptures result from the natural aging of the breast implant, excessive compression to the breast impants, or trauma to the breast. The most noticeable effect is that the size and shape of the breasts change. Depending on the size of the rupture, changes in breast appearance can occur over a few days or over a very long period of time. but you need to take in consideration that one day you will need to replace your breast implants.
Risk of Seroma
This formation is a rare occurrence manifested by swelling of the breast from a collection of serum within the implant pocket. If the surgeon detects that there is fluid collected around breast implants, then he will consider to either wait until fluid is reabsorbed into body or aspirate it out to speed up the breast augmentation recovery process
Risk of Infection
In most cases infection after breast surgery can be treated with antibiotics which helps clear any symptoms as manifested by heat, swelling, tenderness, redness etc. In extreme cases it has been reported that breast implants needed to be removed for 6 months whilst infection subsided.
